More Signs from Crispy (Including a Fly Situation 😬) ••• Signs from my Pets – Part 4

When we all got into the car after the wake, something interesting happened.

For the first time since Crispy died, Maui lay down in her bed.

We’d made around ten car journeys between Crispy’s death and her cremation, and neither Maui nor Chopstick had settled in her bed once. They’d been leaving that space for her, choosing to share the other bed instead.

Until now.

Right after her wake.

And right after I, too, had begun to feel at peace with her death.

Signs in nature

In the early morning after Crispy’s euthanasia, we went back to the beach.

The night sky was still very dark.

As soon as we got onto the beach, I looked up and felt Crispy there.

It was as if she was the black sky.

That’s genuinely how it felt to me and I can’t really explain it any better than that.

And I guess I don’t need to…

The morning after Crispy died was business as usual for the other two…

Signs in adverts

A few days later, we went to pick Crispy up from the vet.

The door to the room where she’d died was open.

I looked inside, and my eyes landed on the weighing scales.

And there, on the scales, was another message from her: an advert featuring a dog driving a car, with the slogan:

DISFRUTANDO EL VIAJE

It means “Enjoying the journey.” 🥹

Signs from flies

Right after Crispy died, we started being followed by flies.

For about a week, they were everywhere. And not just one or two.

We probably had about 20 flies playing with us every day. They’d land in our faces or play with Maui and Chopstick.

And then, after about a week, they were gone again, and we were back to the odd fly here and there.

Now, a little background information might help here… 😄

Crispy loved eating poop. If you’ve watched the video of her last time at the beach, you’ll already know that. 😂

And she was black.

So we often called her the fly.

Which made the sudden appearance of flies everywhere feel rather… on brand.

And then… more mozzies

Here’s a recent one.

From the day I started writing this series about Crispy, we suddenly had far more mosquitoes in our apartment than we’d had all summer.

We’re in Germany and it’s October.

OCTOBER.

Where have they been all this time? 😆

If you’ve read the earlier posts, you’ll know that mosquitoes have already played a rather memorable role in my conversations with Crispy.

There were more signs…

These are just a handful of the signs I experienced after Crispy died.

Some were tiny, like this one

I found it in Germany, where the word “Crispy” isn’t exactly something you come across every day.

Others would take far too long to explain because you’d need to know the whole story behind them.

And some are simply too personal to share.

But I wanted to share the ones above with you because they were part of my experience of ‘losing’ Crispy — and of finding a connection that can never be broken…

This isn’t the end of Crispy’s story, either. There are more things I’d love to tell you about her.

But next, we’re going to talk about my other dog, Chopstick, and his own story of crossing the rainbow bridge and the signs he sent us afterwards. 🥰

Has your soul animal sent you signs as well?

If you’d like to share it, I’d love to hear it. You can send me your message below.

And who knows — maybe your story becomes part of this series.
The animals have a lot to teach, after all.

I’ll be posting Part 5 soon.
